The objective of the ongoing project is to educate and train local farmers (SME and large farming companies) on the application of saline farming, advanced water management, and agroforestry. This involves the establishment of saline farming cultivation and water management tests and training facilities at two farms in south Kenia, which is one of the numerous areas in Kenia where saline groundwater and soils are prevalent. Through local, practical instructions and “proof of concept” results of saline farming and advanced water management practices, in combination with showing the benefits of introducing trees into the farms, farmers are prepared to gradually adopt new and more sustainable farming practices.
